Carbon Monoxide for Landlords and Tenants

These days nearly everyone makes sure that their homes are protected with fire alarms, however some forget a similarly important gadget: carbon monoxide alarms. In some cases, carbon monoxide can be even more dangerous than fire and smoke as it is a silent killer, meaning without an alarm you would have no idea that it is slowly filling your home.

This is why the government has recently passed a new law stating that all landlords must fit their properties with carbon monoxide alarms. As a landlord, you have a responsibility to keep your tenants safe, which is why it’s so important that you not only install carbon monoxide alarms but also take action to prevent leaks in your properties in the first place.

On the other hand, tenants must also make sure that they take their safety seriously, which means performing regular tests on both their fire and carbon monoxide alarms as well as alerting their landlords to any issues that they think could cause a leak.
