Housing associations merger means new landlord for thousands

Over 20,000 households in the North East now have a new landlord after Isos Housing finalised the amalgamation of three small not for profit housing associations into one large one.

All the homes were previously owned, managed and covered with landlord insurance by NomadE5 Housing, Castle Morpeth Housing and Milecastle Housing Association and have all been part of the Isos Group for quite some time. Now all the associations have joined together to become one organisation, with the same board and same management team looking after all the properties. As a single organisation, Isos will be able to save around half a million pounds each year, which is good news for more than 20,000 tenants who can look forward to more money being available to spend on repairs and other services which they rely on.

Keith Loraine, Isos chief executive, said “Bringing everyone into one seamless business is going to save us around half a million pounds every year. At a time when budgets for building new homes are getting ever tighter, and there is less money available for public services, it’s vital we maximise the amount of money we can invest in providing for our tenants. I am excited by the potential of what this merger will achieve now the group members have come together.”

Isos will still work from their existing offices in Newcastle, Hexham and Morpeth, to allow them to deliver their services to the North East. The association takes great pride in the fact that they help some of the area’s most vulnerable people lead a successful and independent life, proving that they are not just there to provide a roof over a tenants head.

The Isos philosophy is that housing needs to be affordable and accessible for everyone and they plan to build new homes every year. Their long term plan is to significantly increase the number of properties they own and manage.
