Property landlords Beech Properties are celebrating after they beat supermarket giant Sainsbury’s at the British Renewable Energy Awards. The company was named winner of the Pioneer Award which is a national prize for innovation in environmentally friendly properties
The South Manchester Company clinched the award for their pioneering use of renewable technology in properties which are rented by the large student population in the area. The company have installed green technology such as solar panels and air source heat pumps in their eighty-two properties which are all covered by landlord insurance.
Founder Stephen Beech said: “It shows that small companies can compete with the big boys when it comes to being green in business and being recognised by The Renewable Energy Association. This is our second award in a month and is great encouragement for other landlords to install renewable technologies with the demand for energy efficient rental properties increasing. I’m committed to demonstrating that going green is not only good for the environment, it’s good for your finances too.”
Beech won a best refurbishment award in May and this second award keeps the plan of being carbon neutral by 2013 firmly on track. They are a local family business and pride themselves on their expertise in energy efficiency. They have trained every member of staff on all aspects of both letting and property management and they also have fully qualified lettings negotiators and a maintenance team who will carry out any repairs quickly.
As well as solar panels the properties have energy efficient light fittings and thermal proof walls which provide tenants with lower energy bills. Tenants also benefit from not paying any agency fee as Beech Properties provide a fully comprehensive service.
