The Friday Five – British Monarch Properties

In the spirit of the nation’s celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, we’ve decided our Friday Five this week will be on properties that British monarchs have lived in.
1. Buckingham Palace

Without doubt the most famous palace in Britain, it has been the official London residence of the British Monarchy since 1837, during the accession of Queen Victoria to the throne. It was built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1705 then later acquired by King George III in 1761.
Our current Queen, Elizabeth […]

Brief Introduction on Houses with Multiple Private Tenants

The private rental sector is a market that is continuing to grow, as the buying market goes through regular fluctuations. With comparably lower deposit costs and monthly payments, tenant demand has been quite overwhelming, resulting in Landlords having a wide variety of prospective tenants interested in their property.
However rent prices have been rising for a few months now and it is harder for single people, without buddies to live with, to secure a rented property just for themselves. So the alternative for them is to […]

Buying Property in the Home Counties

The great North/South divide in England is seen through the economic and cultural differences between the two regions. While some differences can be definitively proved through research, others consist mainly of stereotypes and presumptions. When it comes to property, market values throughout the past confirm that the south tends to have higher priced homes for sale.
Today the property analytics company, Hometrack, announced that UK property prices increased by 0.2% this month. Upon further inspection they found that this rise was driven by price increases in […]

Properties in High Speed Broadband Areas

A few decades ago when home owners would budget for their bills, the main expenses they thought about were gas, electricity, water, telephone and rent/mortgage. Today we’ve added television channel packages and internet access to the list. Nowadays it’s surprising if a person does not have internet access in their own home. It is a highly useful tool and resource that connects the world in a matter of seconds.
Internet at Home
For landlords that choose to include bills in their tenants rent, internet is a feature […]

Literally the Hottest Places to Buy Property in the UK

With the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations starting from the 2nd June in just 2 weeks, it seems like the main occasion to kick off the beginning of the summer season. However the UK weather hasn’t received the message as we continue to experience a mixture of rain, wind and light clouds, with just a taste of blue skies and sun.
Constant great weather throughout the summer is not a great demand and climate is an important factor to consider when buying a property in a new […]

Adding Scottish Properties to your Portfolio

The Scottish property market has had its fair share of ups and downs, like the rest of the United Kingdom. Just this week it was reported that average property prices here fell by almost £17,500. This puts buyers in a stronger position as many sellers are lowering their asking prices as well, and some industry experts expect this situation to remain the same over the next few months.
Flats and terraced houses were some of the few properties which have still been selling marginally above asking […]

The Friday Five – Worst Neighbourhoods on TV

This week our Friday Five is all about the worst fictional neighbourhoods. Let’s count ourselves lucky that the following isn’t real!
1. Chatsworth Estate

Home to the Gallagher and Maguire families, the seemingly derelict appearance of this council estate is enough to deter house hunters even if the neighbours haven’t made an appearance yet. Chatsworth seems to have seen it all when it comes to criminal and questionable activity.
Theft, gun crime, drugs, alcohol abuse, unplanned teenage pregnancies, brothels and conflicted men of the cloth have all passed […]

Do cheap properties in London exist?

Are London locals being pushed out of the Capital?
With the Olympic Games quickly approaching, London is firmly set to remain as the most expensive place in the UK. At present many landlords looking to attract short-term tenants during this time are charging premium rent rates due to the high demand for Olympic property. Similarly, property prices have started to rise, particularly near the Olympic stadium as the new developments add value to their surrounding areas.
Capital Expenses
Some assume that when the games come to an end […]

Selling Prices of Properties throughout England

In March 2011, the Land Registry released data on property sales that took place in February 2011 across England and Wales. The average house price at that time was £161,588 but the actual sale prices vary greatly. Since then the data has been continuously updated. The properties listed are either detached, semi-detached, terraced or flats/maisonettes. Today I’m going to find out how much the cheapest and most expensive properties sold for in each region this year and what postcode they were located in. Properties can […]
